                    Morning guys,
So over the last 2 years or so I have been working really hard to get my credit file sorted! And it is going really well! Allot of old debt has dropped off, I have cleared nearly all debt that is going to remain on my file for the next 3-4 years and just working to get the last few satisfied, I know the defaults are still there but atleast they are satisfied now and I have peace of mind.
I have 1 ccj against my name that is now paid, I am going to write to the courts and have them update my file to atleast say its paid.
My question is, over the last couple of months quite a lot of debt has dropped off my file as it has been over 6 years now, but my credit score is not really moving... Infact it went down by 10 points this month.
How can I start building this back up? I have recently gone from self employed to employed (not sure if that effects it).
I have 1 credit card that I spend on and repay at the end of the month, I have 1 phone contract and 2 current accounts.
Other then that I have no credit. Any advice on boosting my score would be great, I know it is a long winded process but as long as I am going in the right direction then I am happy.
Thanks!

That won't affect it.
Just keep doing what you're doing. When the last debts drop off I'm sure you'll see a rise. If you've been applying for new credit that might be the reason your score has lowered but that effect only lasts a few months.0 -
Credit scores are meaningless junk - save yourself the £10 or £15 a month - they have to provide you with a report of your account for £2 and that has all the important info on it. CRA do not see your salary or lend you money so what they "rate" you is gibberish
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

The CCJ needs to drop off your file. The damage one causes shouldn't be underestimated.0

            Hi Needhelp14,
Great to hear that your hard work on improving your report is going well!
Getting the CCJ marked as paid will certainly help when lenders view your report.
As the defaults get older they will have less of an impact on your report, as they drop off your report will improve.
In the meantime make sure that your active accounts are kept up to date, and try to limit the number of applications that you make.
Your employment status won't appear on your report, but lenders are likely to ask this as part of your application.
Hope you find this useful, our Credit Cafe video also covers improving your report here.
Kind Regards

I have 2 defaults set to drop off my credit report next month, I have bad debts totalling over 8000 pounds but 7000 of that will be erased after 6 years of default, which will be over the next 5 weeks. Will that improve my credit score at all or will it just remain as it is.

Hi Redthomas1982,
Good to hear that the defaults will be coming off your report soon. It would depend on what other information is recorded on your report as to the effect that it has. If there are still other defaults or more recent late payments recorded we would not expect to see a big change in score.
Once all the defaults are off though you should see improvements.
As ZX81 has said it would also be a good idea to remove your email from your post!
Kind Regards

You've already been told that the credit score is meaningless and worthless - do you not believe what people are saying?0
