Carlyle finance ppi claim?

Hi

I had a loan on a car back in 2007. It was with Carlyle Finance (now Motonovo). I recall paying an awful lot in charges and extra insurances, but given it was a car (hire puchase) I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

Is there anyway I can contact them to reclaim this? I do not have any paperwork anymore.

I recently had successful claims with the banks but do not know how to go about this one. Any help would be great.

Thanks

You dont know what you paid but you want to reclaim it? That isnt how it works. You would put a complaint in to the car dealer saying their mis-sold you and give your reasons why. You cant just ask for money back.

    Extra insurances probably:

GAP (useful - no requirement back then to tell you it was available cheaper online)
    Tyre cover
    Alloy cover
    Paintwork cover

These were the ones I was offered with my car, didn't take any except GAP and that was done online rather than their policy

Those insurances you would have had to sign up for and could have refused so hard to see what your miss-sale reason would be unless they wouldn't cover you for some reason

A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

No I know I paid over £400 in Gap insurance, I do not recall asking for this nor do I recall signing anything, I just remember the car sales man telling me it was included. There may have also been PPI but I do not remember so I would like to check as I certainly would not have needed it nor have I ever had the need to use it throughout my life.

So, are you saying you bought a car on finance without signing any documents?

    Ask the car dealer then.

You can ring dealer and see if they have records left of your purchase - you may need to pay the tenner for a DSAR to get a copy of all the records they have left however to see what you signed up to. Post 2005 as they were regulated, expect them to have proper records showing you agreed to it all however and a complaint, if you did have PPI may be your word against theirs unless the PPI was included in the finance deal which would be single premium PPI and you'd probably win that case

    No need to be sarcastic.

You dont have the info. The car dealer does have the info. So, you either ask them or you dont.

Gap insurance is not PPI :)
