I think it's probably something similar to Avon Skin-so-Soft dry oil body spray that seems to have an urban myth about it as having mosquito repellent properties.
Avon S-S-S does not have any proven mosquito repellent properties and Avon do not claim it does.
But it def worked! Used it on my old dog for sand flies & me for midges ....
There's loads of articles if you have a search around - I must admit to keeping searches just on one topic of I could very easily end up giving her so many supplements there would be more of them than her dinner!
This one is interesting - covers the benefits and gives a feeding guide

I originally started giving it not only for her skin but because she has Colitis and I was trying to shift weight off her (yup, it can help with this too!).
Must start it again - I've dug out the container .......
I've started Salmon Oil recently so might try alternating the 2 as Fosterdog does
If you try the coconut oil - def introduce slowly and increase little by little. Jumping in to a full daily dose is likely to result in an upset tum! :eek:Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

I found out about coconut oil from a human health website.
I also found this:

Doesn't mention conditioning dogs coats but I can't see it doing any harm.
I bought a 300ml tub of Tesco virgin coconut oil made from cold pressed coconuts, I think it was £5.
It's a solid oil that becomes liquid when heated.

Thanks.
I did check for a cheaper alternative to the one I bought but they didn't have it, just a same size one for £6.
After seeing how expensive it was in Holland & Barrett  I was pleased to pay £5.0 -

I've just checked our cupboard, the brand is called KTC. If you G00gle KTC coconut oil you'll find it, online at Tsco it's showing as £2.25. It's not on the shelf with the other oils, they hide it away, I only spotted it when I was looking in the World food aisle for large bags of lentils. It was on a top shelf.Make £2025 in 2025

I tried it with my dog, no difference.
However you want extra virgin coconut oil. Don't bother going for the cheap ones if they aren't extra virgin.0 -
I used coconut oil on Arran my sheltie for his scabby skin but it did nothing for him, I'm now making the golden paste that's already been mentioned. Neither of my dogs has a problem at the moment but a couple of months ago Ellie my Bichon had kennel cough which wouldn't go, she would cough and try to bring stuff up but nothing would, after a few days on the GP she started hacking and brought up an awful lot of muck over a few hours, that seemed to do it for her and she's been fine since then. I'm getting a capsule maker and empty capsules for my birthday to try and help with a couple of problems I have, I did try the paste but it's vile.0
