Help with credit check results

Can someone help. I am 23yr old, and have never been able to get credit, I always get turned down. Now I have just checked my credit rating on Noddle and my current account and mobile phone look fine, and I don't have any credit cards or anything like that as I have never been able to get anything. For the last 6years I have had a wage of £15-£20k per year.

However, when I look at the section that lists credit checks there are about 12 different lines visible from 2013 - 2015, so I presume this is how many times I applied for things (obviously none of which I was accepted for, which is how I re-applied with others). How do I get rid of these results? Can anyone help?

They will drop off themselves (after 2 years now?) I think. If they are correct they will stay until then.

Thanks for that. I just can't figure out why my score is so low, I've never been able to get credit for anything other than my mobile, that was the only thing I could think of that looked noticeable on the records. :-)

Sounds just like "thin file" problems. i.e. the catch 22 that it won't improve until you build up more positive data, but that is hard to do right now.

The "ratings" from the CRAs are of little or no use so don't get hung up on those.

Usually advice is try to get a low limit high APR sub prime card that you pay off IN FULL every month by putting some of your day to day spending on it. Or even as last resort even try a credit builder card.

Then eventually with some positive history behind you you may have more luck.

Ahhh I see, I suppose I have never tried to get a higher APR card, but that makes perfect sense. Thank you so much, I am starting to think about mortgages so I need to get my credit rating sorted in advance :-)

Try Barclay Initial. I got the Platinum card as my first credit card when I was working part-time and only had mobile phone paid by direct debit before that. Don't get why you got turned down. I wasn't even with Barclays before applying for the credit card.
