Nochex

Does anyone know how to put the Nochex online payment in your e bay listings? I currently have a Paypal account and i'm waiting for my withdrawel funds to go into my account before closing it. This is because i have heard a lot about Paypal being no good so i want to go with Nochex instead as it is cheaper then Paypal and you also are free from chargebacks.

    Hi

Have just added NOCHEX to my listings - Hope this Helps!

Log into NOCHEX and go to Frequently asked questions

Click on Logos and Banners and one of the options is an auction logo

Just copy and paste into your description (under add your own HTML)

I hope this is right !

I would think quite carefully about trying to sell on ebay without paypal. For a start you can no longer sell abroad as nochex is UK only.

I have offered nochex on and off on my auctions for several years and it has been used perhaps twice by my buyers, it just isn't popular enough unfortunately to take the place of paypal. I no longer bother to offer it as an option.

When I have experimented with not offering paypal my sales dropped off alarmingly, all I managed to sell one month were some dirt cheap sci fi mags that all went to halls of residence, I certainly couldn't sell any of my more expensive items as buyers won't buy without paypal.

When I buy, the first things I look for is the post and packing charge and if that is good then i make sure I can pay by paypal before I bid. If P and P isn't shown, or if i can't use paypal I move to another auction.

I have to agree - even though Paypal can be expensive I'm afraid that it is the only 'real' ebay currency and to not accept them seems very shortsighted. I too offered nochex but gave up a couple of years ago - these paypal chargebacks? I have been full-time ebaying for 5 years with 3500+ sales and have never had a chargeback or any other problem with paypal, I think that it depends on what you sell and to whom. My stuff is very sensible and middle -aged (china) and my customers are also sensible and middle-aged and so long as I describe well and pack well then they are happy and no need for chargebacks

For all its faults, you miss Paypal when its not there. I've recently bought an item that didn't have paypal, but the first thing I did was check whether there were any similar items where paypal was an option. There weren't, so I sent the cheque off last week, now its waiting to clear and then my stuff will be sent sometime this week hopefully. Half the fun of ebay is clicking on something and then getting a parcel in the post a couple of days later.

Yeah i understand what your all saying....I'll think about it, i just don't want the risk of some scammer who buys with Paypal then says they never received item. I've heard Paypal are for themselves and when a customer asks for a refund they will even if you stress you sent the item off..

Your statement rather suggests you haven't read the paypal terms and conditions.

If a customer puts in a chargeback claim you can stop it by showing that the item has been delivered (note, not posted but delivered) therefore it is essential for higher priced items that you send things recorded (insurance up to £30) or special delivery for more expensive items.

On the anti paypal sites there are lots of stories along the lines of, "I sent a £100 phone in the post and buyer has claimed they didn't get it and are demanding a refund". Of course they are demanding a refund, I would be too if I paid £100 for a phone and it didn't arrive.

Insurance is to protect the seller not the buyer, when using paypal, or indeed any other method of payment, make sure you as the seller are covered. I always get a certificate of postage and for more expensive items recorded or special delivery. Then if it all goes wrong and heavens forbid the buyer wants a refund I can happily refund and claim against my COP, recorded delivery or special delivery claim form as appropriate. I would hope never to have to let any of my buyers go through the chargeback system, and luckily, despite approaching 2000 sales I've never had a chargeback yet.

I do wonder about all those sellers that take paypal and yet say in their auction terms that they are not responsible for items lost in the post, so how do they protect themselves against chargebacks I wonder?
