Switching headache

Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I set up a Halifax bank account a few weeks ago, with the intention of switching my Norwich and Peterborough account over in order to get the switching bonus. But I have just been told that you cannot switch a N&P account for some reason.
I also have a Nationwide account, but do not really want to switch this as my mortgage is with Nationwide and I've been with them for years.
Do I have any options? Am I able to open a secondary Nationwide account and switch that? Or is it worth just switching my new Halifax account to another bank in order to get their switching bonus? I don't mind which bank I'm with, but could do with the £100 switching bonus right now!
Thanks

You can open another Nationwide current account, or a current account with any of the other participating banks, and switch that one.0
