Fees, the class B are clean (no kickback to the platform/advisor) and have an OCF of 0.87%, the class A are the old style bundled ones with a charge of 1.61% with a rebate of 0.65% so cost you 0.96%. The [STRIKE]class A[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]class B[/STRIKE] class A will not be available after next year I believe0

Did you mean that Class A (e.g. the old style with kickbacks) wont be available after next year?0 -

Class A* (if that is the dirty one)0 -
Class B is available and has been for some time. The retail share classes are being withdrawn for new business from platform/intermediary retail distribution. Although those that have them can still keep them if they wish (although some platforms are forcing conversion)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

So Class B costs me (slightly) less? Wouldn't forced conversion be a good thing, in that case?0

Not if the net rebate means that net effective charge is lower. There are a number of cases with certain platforms where retail share class minus rebate results in a lower overall charge than clean.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Fidelity's list of bundled funds where you may be worse off converting from bundled into its clean share class equivalent: https://www.fidelity.co.uk/static/pdf/personal/exception-conversion-list.pdf
Will be some differences from platform to platform where "super-clean" classes or rebates to the clean class are offered.0 -
Thanks all for your help, it's nice to understand this better.
I've found another stock marked as 'Class Z'. Is this still referring to the fees or another difference?0 -
Still fees. There can be lots of classes!Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

If you look up any fund on Trustnet you should find a list of the various classes, both clean and bundled, with the OCF (manager's charge). Some funds may have half a dozen or so classes with some only be available to institutional buyers, some only to charities. For the First state fund you mentioned there are sterling and Euro versions. Morningstar has simliar lists.
