Claiming DLA and ESA but heading back to full time work

Hi
I am currently in receipt of ESA and DLA due to suffering from Schizophrenia but i have the opportunity to return to full time work as an Electricians labourer and i would prefer this than being resigned to being on benefits for the rest of my life.
I know my ESA will stop but my question is will my DLA be stopped as well(middle rate care/low rate mobility)?
I dont want to go wrong with the DWP but i know this benefit is not means tested so i wont be in trouble with the HMRC

Good morning
Absolutely correct, your ESA will stop if you are returning to work and earning a liveable wage, however, your DLA (PIP) will continue as this is not a benefit that interferes with your working capabilities, unlike ESA.
Good luck, I hope it all goes well for you.0 -
Thanks very much for the reply, this means i will still afford to live when i take the job!0

Working 16 hours a week as well means you will be eligible for working tax credits as well.0

I will be working 38 hours per week. To claim working tax credits do you need to be earning under a certain amount of money?0

Yes, you do. It's somewhere around 18k for a disabled person.
You can claim DLA whilst working. But your care and /or mobility needs must not contradict why you receive DLA.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
