Hello

Could any of you clever people advise what this connection contains?

For the photo below, Im assuming this is the live and switched live to the right (possibly also ground) and the speaker connections to the left?

Trying to connect an aftermarket head unit and the first connection is what is confusing, the aftermarket loom allows the other two connections.

Thanks all.

Why not buy the correct wiring plug kit for your vehicle, Generally they are about £12.99 and are a simple plug and go system, No need to alter any of the wiring and if someone wants to fit a standard stereo then its a simple task.

The first plug is probably the speaker wiring.

It probably connects to the ECU or some sort of display unit.

    Hi,

I did order a ISO conversion loom for this aftermarket unit for the Rav4 and it has the two connectors shown in the bottom picture which are detailed as power and speakers. There is no indication of what the top socket does, there is no other display unit or anything that would indicate the requirement for an ECU connection (its a very basic radio/single cd player).

Actually, my apologies, Ive traced the wiring and metered it out and the 18 pin harness is for tracking/ecu information (miles per gallon, average speed etc). Its only used for the original D/Din stereo so it not required for aftermarket units. The remainder connectors are supplying speaker (10 way) and steering wheel controls (8 way not used in mine).

Many thanks for the idea, I didn't think of the driving information that appears on the stereo...
