Hi all just been for a 3750 mile service on my kawasaki er6f and was told correctly that my next service is at 7500 mile at a cost of £300
I have looked at the service manual and the parts for the service cost £80 the rest is inspections
Does the cost sound reasonable?
If you have this model what did you pay for 7500 mile service?
Thank you

Even though the parts are cheap pehaps its the fitting time that make up for labor and some inspection may require removal of external panels to gain access to inspect, if they find something than needs replacing then youll be glad they found it.0 -
Are you going to the main dealer or an independent?Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

I can't really see the need to remove many if any fairing panels to service that bike. £110 an hour for the work, two hours is probably pushing it but it would be interesting to see how long Kawasaki quote for the jobs.0 -

I'm guessing from the mileage it is still under warranty. In which case, probably best to pay up to keep everything straight on that score. (I know that this is not technically necessary, but it's what I'd do to save hassle.)
After that, up to you. But you can see from the cost of parts vs the labour charge that doing bike servicing yourself is very cost-effective. If you can change the oil and filter and the spark plugs, the rest is mainly inspection and lubrication, as stated above. If a Haynes manual is available for the er6f, it will guide you through it and save its cost the first time you use it.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
Motorcycles are not cheap to maintain and yours needs servicing at 3,750 mile intervals or every 12 months whichever comes first. See here for fixed price servicing costs. http://www.colchesterkawasaki.co.uk/servicing/fixed-price-servicing
You could ask a.n.other Kawasaki dealer or an independent to quote, but doubt you will save much.
I would advise using a Kawasaki dealer to avoid problems if you need to make a warranty claim. A bike with full manufacturer's service history will be worth more at resale."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Some bikes need the valve clearances done at fairly low intervals which can add to the cost.
There are also things like chain adjustment.
There was a middleweight bike (i am sure it was a Honda) that needed an expensive service including valve clearances at ridiculously low mileage, can't remember the mileage ornthe bike off hand but there were several letters of complaint about itnin MCN a few years ago0 -
Thing is with motorcycles most of it's component parts are safety critical.
Until you are confidant in inspecting, what to look for, where to look and most importantly . . . what you're looking for, then it would pay you to get the bike serviced/inspected regularly.
Main dealer service prices are usually set by the manufacturer and is a valuable source of income for the dealer !0 -

This exactly. The 12000 mile service on my BMW is getting on for £450 and I've had two of them in two years ownership, not nice. Phoned round the other nearest dealers and the most I could save was about £20 but it would have cost nearly that in fuel to get there and back.
Bite the bullet and get it done would be my advice at least until it's out of warranty.0
