Robin58, please take note of the word attempting, I didn't say they had succeeded, or even made great strides towards this end goal.
Your 2nd point makes little sense to me as "new stock" could mean any number of things, so i can't address your question here, sorry!0 -
I missed the EV plain yoghurt too at 45p - used to put a spoonful on top of the dogs food
Now the cheapest they stock is £1.10. Refuse to buy it on principle. It's probably the same bloomin' stuff.
Also they seem to have stopped doing their own direct floor cleaner and tumble dryer sheets. I mentioned it to the lady who delivers our shopping and she said I wasn't the only one who had commented on the cutting of value products. It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

This has all the hallmarks of an urban myth.0

That's 1 way way of losing more customers to Aldi. I don't understand why anyone can spend £1.10 and more on Natural yoghurts when they're .44p for Low fat and fat free at Aldi.0 -

Thank you to everyone who has responded. Apologies for not being on since the initial post, been a bit busy.
On the day I posted I was told by the lady at the till that if two people request a product be reinstated then the policy is that that product will be reinstated. Therefore this is not a myth.
Also when doing my monthly order I always type in 'Everyday Value' and go through all 22/23 pages to see what products are still available, what has been removed and (rarely) what is new.
The reason I got excited about this policy is that living in the Isle of Man means very limited access to supermarkets. We have Tesco obviously, Iceland, Co-op, Spar and an expensive local supermarket Shoprite. We don't have Lidl, Aldi, Farmfoods, B&M, Asda, Sainsburys etc. If an Everyday Value product is removed it can add quite a bit to the shopping bill to have to buy 'higher grade' products.
The following is a list of products that have been removed, please feel free to add to it and let's see if we can get Tesco to reinstate them:
EV Corned Beef
EV Gravy Granules
EV Hair Conditioner
EV Cooking Bacon Pieces
EV Cocoa
EV 12 Pack Bread Rolls
EV 4 Pack Double Length Toilet Rolls
EV Chocolate Moouses
EV Fromage Frais
EV Air Freshner
EV Malt Loaf
Tesco 8 Pack Crumpets
Tesco Scotch Broth Soup
Tesco Floor Cleaner
Tesco Tumble Dryer Sheets
I like the evil thoughts mentioned earlier, especially if it means we can all save money!

PS I have just discovered that if you go into Tesco Groceries but don't sign in, there are 31 pages of EV products available. Tesco's obviously think people in IOM have lots of money and don't need to buy EV, which definitely isn't the case. It's only by browsing on this website for the last seven years that we've managed to pay off over £50,000 of debt. (Business went under.) We are now saving to do up our house which is literally falling apart around our ears.0 -
I meant to put on the last post that we owe so much to everyone who has contributed over the years. We couldn't have done it without you all.

It's not a conspiracy, or a con etc.
When you sign into Tesco Groceries, the product range stocked in the store which will fulfil your order is displayed.
Obviously, when you are not signed in, the selection is different.
Supermarkets very much operate to a supply and demand customer base, maybe most who live on IOM don't want so many value products, and you are the exception? That's capitalism for you i'm afraid.
You should focus your efforts on getting the store which fulfils your order to stock more EV products.
And buying your absolute favourites in bulk, in case they are withdrawn/have a supply problem, might be a good idea.
I could say something about the reality of accepting lesser services when you don't live in a big mainland town, but that would be meanEV packs of 4 double-length toilet rolls @ £1.95 have disappeared.
Ditto, 500gm EV plain yogurt @ 45p.
Ditto, EV packs of oranges, from all but one Branch [previously stocked at all]
BUT, yeast is still free from the bakery :-)
It was a 6 pack of double length rolls.
These have been replaced by 6 packs of single length rolls at £1 each.
Same size & same average number of sheets per roll.
So 5p extra per dozen rolls.0
