What I found out about Tesco

Options
I did my latest order for delivery and noticed that Everyday Value corned beef wasn't available. So I popped in after work tonight to clear the shelf. Unfortunately I couldn't even do that as the shelf had been cleared and the shelf label had been removed. I did manage to get another couple of items that stop being on special offer before my order arrives.

When I told this to the lady on the till she told me that if two customers request that an item be reinstated they have a policy to bring back that item. So I went straight over to Customer Services and requested the corned beef and the Everyday Value gravy granules. Those were the only two items I could think of off the top of my head. I need to go through my shopping lists for the last year to see what else they've stopped doing in my store.

I was wondering what other Everyday Value or other products Tesco have stopped selling that you used to buy regularly.

  • My choice would be the everyday value hair conditioner. I bought a bottle to use when the dreaded head lice struck and used up the remainder of the bottle on my own hair. I discovered to my surprise that on my very straight fine hair it was far better than a lot of more expensive conditioners I have used.

Everyday value cooking bacon pieces, literally impossible to get hold of here. I've pretty much given up on Tesco except for a couple of named brand bits.
  • Give it a few days, then get a pal to request some things they've missed, and include a mention of the gravy and/or corned beef.

With a bit of careful planning over several weeks with a few like-minded folk and who knows what you might achieve?

Hmm - Does anyone know if Sainsbobs have a policy on this kind of thing too?

Tesco value cocoa - but I shop online. Its so youll buy the more expensivve product. They used to do it for weeks on end and then it would suddenly reappear again.

  • Thank you for that.

I have found that the Tesco in area I recently moved to doesn't even stock some basic food items, like sundried tomatoes in a packet or a choice of organic everyday cheeses. They didn't even have something as basic as organic double cream to start with.

Must get a friend lined-up to help get them up to scratch.

When I used to shop at Sainsburys they stopped selling their own version of fromage frais which I used to buy. I went to customer services in store and the next week the shop was stocking it again!

I went in my Tesco express the other week with a craving for butterkist toffee popcorn, but no sweet popcorn available. Mentioned this on twitter, thought nothing more but the other day when I popped in it was there! They had filled out a stock request form for me, if you go in store you can request stock

The 8 pack of their own brand of ordinary crumpets = not the 6 pack of 'extra thick' ones. They are too thick and don't cook right through. If you want the middle done then the outside is burnt!

Very sneaky - one is not enough, two is too much. Instead of 4 servings you only get 3. I've gone back to toast, they can keep their crumpets.
