Give DLA Unit a ring, and ask them what they are doing with the giro.

We have been recieving post as normal - I didn't even know they had been on strike recently.

I think you will find that the DLA cheque is at the post office. I was very surprised when I cashed my husband's one (from 2 weeks ago) yesterday to be handed his next cheque by the guy behind the counter.

If we had not left it so late to cash it , we would probably have been totally unaware that it was there (nobody notified him).

I wonder how many people will be thinking their cheque is delayed in the post when it is really at the post office. I also wonder why they have done this as we haven't really had any serious delays with our post (despite Abbey trying to blame the strike for delays with our debit cards!)

Well, at least there is one benefit to direct payments into a bank account - the money is not held up by postal strikes.

I'm glad my husband's DLA is not paid into our account or we would not have been able to get hold of it thanks to Abbey and their failure to get our new debit cards to us.

if you had a cheque book and another form of id you would have been able to draw money from your account.

Or even written a cheque for cash across the counter.
