Reformat of C drive in Windows 98

Could someone please remind me how to reformat The C drive in Windows 98

I have my Universal boot disc I think I have to wait for the a prompt then put C: then at the C prompt put C:Format space then enter.

Is this correct?

If not what should I do?

The command that I used to use was:-
    format c:/s <enter>
But I've forgotten why the s is there (it's been a long time).
    :D
EDIT: I've googled it. The s makes it bootable.

/s copies the system files (command.com etc), so it can boot itself

/S copies the boot-sector, command.com and (I think) a couple of other files - not sure if it would work on C:\ as you'll have removed command.com with the format (MIGHT use an in-memory copy, but never tried it...).

[edit] if you're reformatting to do a "cold" install, you don't need the /S as the system files etc will be loaded from the CD.

in my pc you can simply right click but make sure you save all your wanted goods.
Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%

I always use Format C:/q and then its done in about 10 seconds or less ready to load again

The /q is for Quick Format , and this is fine unless you suspect that you have a boot virus
