Furniture Village delivery woes...

Hi all,

I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I've had a delayed delivery of a mattress from furniture village - it's going to arrive one week later than planned. Whilst this might not be a substantial delay, it's going to leave me sleeping on the floor for seven days.

I'd be interested to know if anyone has had any success with compensation from them or if anyone knows my legal rights? Rather than moneys, I'm planning to request they assist me with moving a mattress from another local property to my residence. It's a five mile trip and it would act as a stop gap. Does this seem reasonable, or has anyone had anything similar?

I appreciate it's just a short time, but it is incredibly frustrating when I've paid so much to them...

(I should also say, I've used the company for 10+ years and this is my first issue. I appreciate these hiccups happen so don't want to tarnish their name!)

So you want them to move a 'second hand' mattress in their van??
I would be VERY surprised .

Hi, we move threads if we think they’ll get more help elsewhere (please read the forum rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.

I’ve moved your thread from the ‘In my home’ board to the ‘Praise, Vent & Warnings’ board, where it is better suited.

    Regards

Have a read of MSE's Failed delivery article.

In there you will find all about any compensation that you might be entitled to.

Also worth mentioning is that their delivery date is probably only an estimate. Check your documentation.

I'd say almost impossible, but more to the point, if you need their help to get it to your house, how will you get it out of your house when your new one is delivered?

You're more likely to get them to give you some money back (delivery charge?) so you can go and purchase an air bed. They can be had for around £20.
