in Credit cards
I've recently used my barclay MasterCard to pay for hotel and transfers for a holiday, even though I've paid from the uk the charges are in €. My question is, rather than pay the non sterling transaction fee or suffer the poorer exchange rate can I not go into the bank and pay 170€ cash off my statement for a 170€ transaction?
Thanks in advance

No as the account is run in GBP and so its automatically converted. Paying in non-GBP will result it also being converted and applied as GBP at the rate you hand it to your bank.
You can get Euro credit cards if you are intending to do a lot of transactions in the currency and have Euros sat around to pay it off. Alternatively there are a few cards that dont charge for non-GBP transactions but repayment is still done in GBP0 -
