Buying a property without searches

Was talking to someone about legal fees and she said she has previously bought property without searches so long as she was reasonably sure of nothing untoward happening in the area. Has anyone ever done this? :eek:

When buying the house before this one we didn't get any searches done. We weren't getting a mortgage, although not strictly cash buyers as we were selling another house in order to buy. There was a time issue as we wanted to move fast and searches were taking six weeks minimum which threatened to scupper the purchase/our sale.

I wouldn't necessarily advise it though and for our most recent purchase - Dec 2014 - we decided to have the searches done, although again we weren't getting a mortgage.....

It does depend on your attitude to taking risks
