Car Problems
I bought my first car on the 23rd of December and it ran fine for the first couple of months but last week I started having a problem where when doing a cold start the engine is cutting out when I am idling between gears until the engine has heated up a bit and then it runs fine.
Anyway I'm not looking for car advice, unless someone's can guess what it is in which case please do tell
When I bought it it came with a 3 month warranty so I took it in last week and he 'fixed' it and told me he had cleaned the fuel filter and re-set the setting and it ran fine, for the weekend, but it started happening again yesterday, however I am now out of my warranty so if I take it in again will the guy I bought it from charge me or because it is an existing problem which is not fixed and began before the warranty ended will it still be covered in the warranty?

It will be the dilithium cyrstals. Your not singing to them often enough. Or singing the wrong songs to them.
How often do you wash them? Hand wash only and drip dry.
On the other hand it could be normal for your top secret spy car to cut out. to prevent it being stolen.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

On the contrary, it sounds like a faulty flux capacitor to me. Those things are real swines until you hit 88mph.
OP, we need more specific information about your vehicle, otherwise it's just a guessing game.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Shouldnt it still start with a faulty flux capacitor? Or is it draining the crystals whilst parked?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Sounds like he's done naff all. Get him to look at it again.
You could join a forum for that particular car and they may be able to help diagnose.0 -

Hmmmm, in truth there's no way to know....... Perhaps a spacial anomaly has ruptured a plasma conduit!?!? IMO there's no real reason to suspect a problem with the dilithium crystals.
If you eliminate the impossible, then whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.....“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

TBF OP did state that s/he wasn't looking for help with a solution but rather what their rights are with regards to the warranty so I can understand why s/he didn't list the car details.
I would have thought that because it is the same fault and it's just outside warranty you are right to expect the dealer to fix it.0 -

It depends on how clear it is that this is the same problem and not a new problem (or put another way, depends on the extent to which they try to say it isn't the same problem, and the extent to which you can make a convincing case that it is the same problem).
If it is the same problem that has not been resolved, it should still be covered under the warranty.(Nearly) dunroving0 -
OP, if I was you I would say that the problem wasn't fixed as it reoccured on the drive home or after you got home but had to attend to other things which is why you didn't bring it in.
A little bit of white lie won't harm as long as you are sure it is the same problem - the garage may have done a bodge fix and problem has reoccured esp. as it has done it so soon after the 'fix'. You can be sure that the dealer will try to wriggle out of it saying it's a different fault. Stick to your guns and tell them to fix it properly.0 -
