Help! Need Spanish interpreter!

Options
Don't know whether this is the right place to post but own a property in Spain and am having real problems as the fridge broke down two days before we left to come home. Phoned repairs ( only spoke spanish) and repair man said it required a new motor. Left keys with an obliging neighbour and after several phone calls and no show visits by said repair man fridge was supposedly fixed. Friends went out last week and guess what - it isn't fixed. Don't want to cause helpful neighbour too much hassle so wonder can anyone tell me if I can get a Spanish interpreter to phone the repair company for me ? I live in Glasgow. Thanks for any help

Perhaps you could try Language Line, who provide over-the-phone interpreters. It appears that they now offer a pay-as-you-go service to the general public rather than just large organisations.

Many thanks for that link. I had checked flights thinking I would have to go out to deal with this but it is the end of the Scottish school holidays and flight prices have rocketed. I will contact them tomorrow.:j

We have an apartment in Los Alcazares on the Costa Calida. Love it but object to paying more than 300 euros for a key holder out there. However perhaps after this incident we would save ourselves a lot of stress if we did use one. I don't know how else everyone else copes.
  • Hi,we always turn our fridge/freezer off now when we have to come back to England. We had a power cut once and when we got back, everything had gone off. Now we only buy enough food to last us while there anything left the neighbours have it. If by chance our fridge does breakdown we wouldn't bother to get it mended,we would replace it. But you may have a more expensive one than us.

I'm in Estepona, if I had been handy I could have helped.
Be careful of keyholders. Some of them have been known to use and let apartments that they had the keys of.

I have just bought on La Torre and I am there Sept 01/07 inclusive.
Have not crossed the Key holder bridge yet but have had a dozen flyers under the Door so will have to see who is keen !

We are just outside Torrevieja and there are a lot of free english papers advertising repairs.Have a look through them, you might be able to find something in there.

Thanks for the offer gatita. I have now been put in touch with an interpreter in Los Alcazares who is going to phone the company for me. Fingers crossed.
