Any revenue DVLA get from commercial sources reduces the revenue they have to raise directly from vehicle owners and from driving licence holders. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

How does this compare with the replies above???
'Motorists going abroad after 8 June are being warned they may need to take a special code with them if they want to hire a car.
From that date the paper counterpart of British driving licences - which records endorsements and fines - is being computerised.
Anyone wanting to hire a car abroad could need a code to show convictions for offences like speeding.
To obtain it, motorists will have to log on to the DVLA website beforehand.
But the code is only valid for 72 hours, so anyone wanting to hire a car more than three days into their trip may need to generate a new code while they are abroad.
For those who do not have internet access, a phone number will also be made available.
However, the code is not an official requirement and it will depend on the individual hire company's terms whether or not it is required.
The RAC said many drivers were unaware of the changes.'It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -

This a nonsense situation - how do hire companies, both here and abroad, deal with citizens of other countries who only ever have had a plastic photocard type licence with absolutely no record of offences available from any source?
Why do offences matter anyway as long as you still have a licence - if you were banned and had a licence revoked, you wouldn't have the bit of plastic any more.
And as for the RAC's comment - it would be more accurate if it just read 'Many drivers are unaware.'0 -

Probably be £10,000 to update the photocard by then though.0 -
^^^ ..... and as someone has already pointed out, the DVLA can take an electronic "copy" of your passport photo ............. assuming you have a current valid passport!0
