Maybe at the time, your flights were operated by Thomas Cook and the change is recent.
You did book the holiday last year so it was almost 3 months ago even if you booked at the end of December.0 -
Thomas Cook are leasing a few aircraft this summer from other operators, Avion Express being one, Smartlynx being the other. The aircraft and pilots will be from Avion/Smartlynx, the cabin crew will be Thomas Cook. The aircraft will probably have a Thomas Cook logo on for what it's worth.
The reason they do this is that their business is hugely seasonal. Summer May-October sees far more demand than winter, so over the summer they lease in extra aircraft to meet that demand. Standard industry practice and has been for years. Especially in the package/charter industry.
If you are still concerned you could speak to customer service but I think you'll find its in their T&Cs to be able to change flight operators. They are telling you because they legally have to. However they could have left it until you were at the airport.0 -
I don't understand your logic TBH.
I've heard of (and flown on) Germanwings, didn't stop their plane crashing.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
There are some shocking airlines in the world - but they're not allowed to operate within the EU.
If Thomas Cook contract out to one of the below, then you can worry, but the standards in Europe are as high as you'll find anywhere in the world

Just to confirm, it now appears that the first officer of the Germanwings plane is solely responsible for the crash, and that the hardware was operating perfectly0
