Hi, Ok I did something daft. I parked in a disabled bay on a private car park (that is free to all motorists) but I wasnt feeling well it had been a hectic day and I forgot to display my blue badge. So i had a lovely yellow bag stuck to my car, I know its my own fault, but £60 (if i pay within 14 days) when its a free car park any way! I called the company and said look im still on the car park can I show you my badge, its not dodgy its my badge let me prove it. The said NO we wont do anything unless you appeal. Now I know Ive read things on the internet that say just ignore it. But I phoned the legal helpline i get with my union membership. They said dont ignore it you must appeal, so I have but my husband said they wont uphold the appeal because on that car park people parked in disabled bays not showing a badge are the only source of income as its a free car park. The legal helpline said if they turn down the appeal I should let them take me to court and as my defense say that as they didnt lose any revenue and I did have a valid badge then I shouldnt have to pay? What do people here think? Shall I just pay now and save myself the heartache and bother?

If you can't be bothered with all that, then 16 pounds to not deal with it.

I did the the same thing after a particulary stressful day
I wrote all the facts and why my day was so stressful (my case was hospital appointment for a breast cancer biopsy) I got the all clear so we decided on lunch in town
I told them that although I did have a badge it was not displayed appropriately and apologised for that - I sent all supporting evidence copies of my hospital appointment and blue badge and I was sent a wonderful reply saying thank you for your honesty and full information that could be relevant and saying that they were please my results were so good
so write to them be honest and send copies of all supporting evidence as to your reasoning - I know that route will depend on how they are feeling on the day of reading - I was lucky -
send it signed for as wellEmergency fund £10,000

Appeal to the landowner and ask them to get it cancelled (often they can).
At the same time appeal the charge to the company trying to charge you.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
I did this once with my mum's badge by not displaying it properly; the wrong way round. I appealed and they cancelled but said only for this one time.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

The Blue Badge Scheme does not apply in private car parks! Its the Equality Act that applies, regardless of any badge.
Also, the advice to ignore is outdated by some years.
Get yourself into the Parking Tickets forum and start by reading the Newbies Sticky carefully - this is up to date and has all the info you need to see them off.0 -
I dont consider having Multiple Sclerosis a STATUS symbol and I am not 'proud' of owning a disabled badge in fact I would rather not drive around displaying it constantly. I only use mine when I need it. I am proud of the fact that I work so sorry the fact that I have a blue badge to help me continue to support myself offends you so much!0

Just wanted to say Thank you. I phoned the shopping centre and the head of security said If I go and see him with my Blue Badge and a copy of the PCN he will sort it out for me.
So once again Thank you.0 -

I have appealed by email and received an email confirmation that they have it. I did go and see someone in the management office of the shopping centre. They copied my blue badge and the pcn. They said don't worry they will deal with it but I'm not counting my chickens just yet.0
