I've sent them a message asking them open a case. I have said that opening an item received case is usually what you should do if you haven't received a parcel and the seller is not responding to messages or is being very unhelpful. I've said that I'm asking them to open a case, so that it's on record with eBay that they've not received the item.

I've pointed out that I've got proof of posting (not delivery - sorry my mistake) and I've not received it at the return address. Then said I'd like to make a claim with Royal Mail. Then ended the message by saying Royal Mail might contact them to confirm details and asking whether they are happy with this.

I've sent it this morning and no response so far.

That should work, as suggested by their feedback, they might not be able to open a case on eBay.

If they open one on Paypal, upload the Proof of Posting & phone Paypal to explain the high number of refunds & they will close their Paypal Account & NARU their eBay account if the evidence is available.
Paypal seem to be more pro-active than eBay

Pointless forcing a case to be opened when you cannot prove delivery, you will lose the case and have to refund.
You will also get a defect marked against your account and will probably get poor feedback from the buyer.

I insist my buyers open an INR case if they want a refund. If it's a genuine INR this will have no affect on the buyer as they are so rare. My defect rate can stand it.

If it isn't genuine, I want it flagged up with ebay and hopefully if they generate an excessive amount, ebay will do something about it.

Otherwise a buyer just has to say "I didn't get it" and they get a refund because the seller is worried about their defect rate.

Not to mention half of them are never heard from again as they don't want eBay catching on to their little scam.

From their view it's better to give up on a fiver with one seller who won't just roll over and steal off another 5 sellers rather than get caught and have to actually pay for what they want to own.

Going by previous feedback left - There's a high chance I would have got either a negative or neutral feedback and therefore a defect. I agree with both campdave and the_lunatic_is_in_my_head posts. I can take the defect and will leave a reply feedback to negative/neutral feedback.

A full refund would also generate a defect, so a INR Case registers it with eBay
