PCN Scotland - have I blown it?

Hi, sorry I have a stupid question.

I received a PCN today for an overstay in a "free" car park in Scotland a couple of weeks ago. The overstay occurred after the car failed to restart after shopping. The AA was called, took an hour to arrive, worked on the car for a while. Hence, overstay.

I saw red when the PCN arrived and I phoned euro park parks to explain that the car had broken down. They said to send the AA report and an appeal form.

I then check on here and read that I should have ignored them completely as I am in Scotland. I did not identify myself, except maybe through caller id.

My stupid question is: Will I be ok if I ignore them from now on or have I somehow acknowledged the "crime" by phoning them?

Did you make reference to the PCN number when you called them? If not then you're probably still safe.

(They won't be able to reconcile the caller ID to the PCN. Assuming they even noted the number that called them).

Thanks Bod. I didn't mention the reference number. I don't think I even mentioned who was driving, just said "we had broken down". (As one family member drove into the car park and a different family member rescued it after the AA guy restarted it)

Hopefully if they recorded the call they would not be able to decipher my ranty, angry Scottish accent.
