How long before searches show on credit file?

I'm sure this has been asked [and answered] before but I was just wondering how quickly credit application searches show up on credit files e.g.

Instantly [within minutes]

Overnight [within hours]

Days - perhaps over the course of a couple of days or so?

Does it perhaps vary according from lender to lender / CRA to CRA?

Any info / experience, greatly appreciated :-)

Instantly once the search is performed, they may not search all 3 CRA's.

I've had a couple different lenders not show up on my Experian account until a few days after my application(s) but that doesn't mean it isn't visible to other lenders instantly.

MM, good point. I was wondering the same thing so I just called Credit Expert and asked them.

They just said that lenders cannot see any info that subscribers cannot see i.e. if a search is not yet visible to a consumer then it's not yet visible to other lenders yet.

Although I've generally found the information from Credit Expert staff to be highly reliable, I would never rule out the possibility of any sort of error or misunderstanding.
