A & L current account + £250 cash back?

Hi,

Went to see Alliance & Leicester yesterday about a mortgage and they suggested opening up one of their current accounts in order to receive £250 cash back in order to pay for the admin fees on the mortgage. It would mean placing £500 in the account every month, which could be used to pay off the mortgage.

I haven't seen this advertised on their web site. Does anyone else know of this?

Dave

Sorry, can't see any reference to £250 cash back?

Basically, if you open their account you become a 'plus' customer so when you apply for their mortgage you get £250 cashback. Also, they are now doing a promotion as a premier account customer if you recommend a friend to open the Premier Account. You both get £50 each! Well worth it. Visit local branch only though.

As OMAR says, this is open to anyone who opens (or already has) a Premier Current Account. We are getting £250 cashback on our A&L remortgage too ... as we already had the current account. :)

You do have to ensure that the A&L mortgage is the best deal you can get - there's little point in going for £250 cashback if you will pay thousands more over the term of the mortgage!

    Excellent! Thanks.

Tim_L, appreciate what your saying, still in the process of comparing at the moment. A&L seem to be a tad better than C&G, which is who we are with at the moment.

I'm assuming because we don't have any kind of account with A&L, this offer would still apply?

    Cheers

We've gone for the Alliance & Leicester mortgage in the end and have started to get things in the post, such as the current account info. However, on logging in to their Online service I can't see £250 in this new account.

Does anyone know the conditions of this offer? I can only assume that they would fund our account when the mortgage has been finalised?

You get a cheque (approx. 10 days?) after completion. It does actually say that somewhere in the Ts & Cs. It's not funded straight to the account.

Hope everything goes well with the new mortgage, Dave. We will be joining you with an A&L mortgage in about 10 days' time, all being well. :)
