regravelling

My OH took it upon himself to suggest to the landlord we would regravel the back garden

Since suggesting it, my OH has done little to actually get on and do it, and we had an arguement tonight about it, as I would like to be able to use the garden this summer, instead of being full or rubble and garden stuff whilst he lazily does it bit by bit, and will still be doing it by next summer

So Ive said I will do it myself, thing is I dunno where to start :o

We have a small patioed back garden, but around the edge of the patio is a border type gravelled bit, which is what needs regravelling, so it's not like I need to do the whole garden, just the outside edges.

I know I will need to buy some groundsheet and obviously bags of new gravel, but thats about as much as I know at the mo lol

My plan was to dig it up, under the level of the patio slabs slightly then lay the groundsheet and lay the gravel on top of that.

Is there anything else I need to know? and hints and tips?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks from a complete beginner in DIY/Gardening :rotfl:

Just a slight bit of help ref the gravel.

Not sure what volume you need, but Wickes, Jewsons and Travis Perkins are the places to go. You probably want a basic 20mm shingle. Depending on how much you want to cover, a bulk bag will do 12m/sq to a depth of 50mm. I work for a gravel company, so might be able to help a little here...
