Interrailing - Barcelona to Italy

Hi guys,
This summer I am going interrailing for 5 weeks around Europe. I will be using an interrail monthly pass.
I have booked my flight from London to Barcelona, and will be spending 3 days in Barcelona.
My next stop is Italy...........I want to go down as far as the Amalfi Coast.......................would you advise flying there from Barcelona? Or travelling along the french coast line and starting at the top of Italy?
Thanks

Seems to defeat the object to fly from Barcelona to Napoli!
When I did it I went from Barcelona to Nice, stayed a day or two, stopped off at Pisa just to see the tower, then on to Rome for a couple of days, then down to Napoli. From there I went over to Brindisi and got a ferry to Athens.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
So what website can I look to see the train times for that route? Will I be able to use my interrail pass on that?
Will it say on the website if I can use my pass? As I am on Loco2.com and it says it will cost £920 -
If you are flying out of Barcelona, don't take Germanwings!0

Have you got a whole of Europe pass or an Italy pass?
If you have the whole of Europe you shouldn't have to pay, unless you're choosing trains on the Spanish HS Talgo or AVE trains, but is should be possible to do the same route without using them, just not as fast.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I'd get a flight to southern Italy from BCN. Btw I found the best way to get to the Amalfi Coast was by boat from Salerno.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
