My MFI Space cream kitchen quote, your thoughts please

So if i tell him I am promoting Howdens on here I may get it even cheaper???

Well, we went back to HOWDENS and they came down to £1700 plus an integrated dishwasher free,and soft close drawers free. I didnt like the handles or the cornicing so they knocked them off and we went back to MFI(BOLTON). The salesman initially said "I can beat any Howdens quote if you have the paper work"(we had said it wasn't with us at first)he also said which no one at MFI has ever told us, that they do rigid units as opposed to flatpack!!!but they are much dearer!!

Anyway at this point I "remembered"!!!!! the quote from Howdens WAS in the car and invited DH to fetch it.............cue much back tracking by salesman who said "if you are so far down the road with Howdens you should carry on"(who ever heard of a salesman confident that he would get a sale say that!?!) I said "well we haven't ordered yet you may as well give us a quote"

BUT HE WOULDN'T!!!,

He also told us a story about a self satisfied(his words) Howdens customer who walked in to the store with a quote...thinking it could not be bettered.... and he proceeded to stun the customer by asking how much do you want off the price £600/£700..... so what message do we take from this???

Never take at face value the quote given to you by MFI....THEY CAN COME DOWN HUNDREDS WITHOUT BATTING AN EYELID!!as the salesman said.to us quite clearly...their profit margins are HUGE

Anyway we ordered the additional items which of course, we paid through the nose for................but we now have the kitchen we wanted at a good price bought from someone who we think is a much nicer person than the rip off merchant in MFI. If he had been honest and said "well I can try to match/beat the quote" that would have been one thing, but to say he definitely could both on price and quality then backtrack when called to put his money where his mouth was, was pathetic.

I was all for insisting he quote, to make the point...but DH said life is too short to waste time on a plonker....had we not had to get home,I would have insisted just for the sheer hell of it...as it really annoyed me that he rubbished HOWDENS but couldn't come up with the goods.
