Halifax CC direct debit failed, Anyone else had same problem?

Recently had a direct debit from Nationwide to pay off halifax cc fail. Each are blaming the other? Has anybody else had any problems?

the DD was definitely set up? had it been taken successfully previously? & was it stated that it would be taken on your statement?
also, have you now made the payment to your card by Faster Payment?

Both banks claim its the other banks fault.. New DD, the correct amount appeared on the credit card as credit then removed, nothing showing on bank account of any money taken. Other problem is that it will show as a missed payment on credit score even though not my fault as DD set up by bank and enough money in the account.
As i understand it, the DD is set up by the credit card company, the bank where the money comes from to pay off the card has no input.
