Car failed MOT - quote check

Comments

  • As long as you happy driving around with your seatbelt fastened to a welded plate that is.
It might pass the MOT, but as to how safe it is I would not like to say.

Car is used for work only, 30 miles a week with a maximum speed of 30mph (more like 20mph with the traffic and ramps) so I'm confident it'll be fine, besides, its probably a lot better than it was before the MOT.

Before anyone says I should get a bike at only 30 miles a week, car is a requirement in my job.

Last month my OH's R reg fiesta failed on EXACTLY what you have said. We paid £291 inc MOT and retest.

Seems I paid what I should have paid :)

A properly welded in plate on a 14 year old Ka will be the strongest thing on its floor.

I wouldn't worry about the welding op, it will be safe, just some scaremongering taking place

Seems a reasonable price you've paid considering age of the car. Our approach for repairs is if we know the car Is reliable we will spend up to what it would cost to replace on maintenance each mot or service.
Scrapping and then buying another second hand car that may potentially need the same work or even more as well as not knowing the reliability.
