Socket has no power

I bought some appliances for our first home. We put the fridge where the previous owners had it. There's a single socket mounted on the wall which we plugged the fridge into. But it didn't work. Tried a phone charger and still no joy.
The other sockets in the kitchen are working fine. The kitchen is behind the garage. I went into the garage and there's a wire going into the wall. I traced the wiring.

By the look of things there's a wire coming from the fusebox. This goes into a round plastic thing in the garage. From this one wire supplies a socket in the garage, and another wire is the one that feeds into the kitchen socket.
What's the best way to see where the fault lies?

Sorry about the wait. Ended up getting on with some other things. The garage socket wasn't working either. Turned out the neutral wire in the spur from the mains had slipped out. The spur is just hanging rather than fixed to the wall. All sorted.0
