Ventian blinds 27mm or 50mm slats

The blinds with smaller wooden slats... despite being the size blind..are cheaper than the blinds with larger slats at B&Q.
I was really trying to work out why. Any ideas?

Less wood used to make the slats?
Just a guess.
It's really a question you need to ask the marketing people at B&Q.0 -
Well I presume the smaller slats take up the same amount of wood but need more work to cut and attach. Therefore I can only imagine them being more expensive, but they are cheaper.
It is also not just B&Q that does this. I thought it has something to do with effect?0 -
Bits of substandard wood that aren't good enough for 50mm can be planed down to 27mm.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
