I've just had an Autoglass issue. Out yesterday and a stone flew up and hit our side window, now in a lovely mosaic form. Rang Autoglass 5.30 pm to be told someone would call back within an hour to arrange making it secure and for me to ring back if I hadn't heard. 6.45 I rang back to be told I shouldn't have been told 1 hour, more like 4. Was also told they'd put me a priority for making secure and I'd hear by 9. When we heard nothing we rang again to be told they couldn't secure it that night but it would definitely be made secure by 11am today. Rang up this morning and got a confused sounding guy who said he'd check with his supervisor, then finally got back to me to say somebody would ring me 'in the coming hours' to arrange an appointment for the next day or 2. When I asked about making it secure he said that would happen today but the repair itself would be another day; I can live with that. Then I get called back to offer me an appointment for 2 days and told they can't secure before that. Am now waiting on National Windscreens to get back to me in case they can come out for a reasonable cost that won't leave me out of pocket. I'm insured with Direct Line and will move to another insurer if they force me to go with Autoglass next time

You do realise that by "making secure", they probably mean sealing it off with some fancy plastic bag and industrial celotape, so that rain water cannot damage your interior.

Quite frankly i'd have done than myself within a few hours of it happening.

It's really only the same as breakdown companies giving flat tyres a low priority, any clown can change a wheel, but some people think they're above getting their hands dirty (top tip - carry a few pairs of nitrile rubber gloves in the car!).
