One question that springs to mind : Is it the real owner that is selling it?0
-
There's an endless list of possibilities of what his reason for selling it is. After reading the terms of the HPI check, I think you can almost guarantee they'd wriggle out of any claim - as per a good deal of insurance companies.0
-
Did you ask him why its so cheap an why he's not selling it to the dealer?0
-
He said he didn't approach the dealer as they'd probably give him £3.5k less than he's asking. But you'd still check though, wouldn't you? Particularly as he's buying another HD from a dealer. He claims to have bought it from a dealer for £2k more than he's asking - but that is impossible. HD dealers are tightly regulated on the price they sell used bikes for.
Too suspicious all round.0 -
Harleys seem to attract dodgy types
A colleague of mine likes his Harleys and found one at an absurdly low price on eBay. He agreed to buy and paid a deposit, and arranged to meet the guy at a motorway services to do the handover. (Yes, I know.) He got there a bit early, got a coffee and sat outside to wait. After a while he phoned the seller's number, no reply. Then he noticed that every table round him had a middle-aged guy with a goatee and leather waistcoat, drinking a coffee and trying to phone someone on a mobile.
He asked the nearest if he was waiting to pick up a bike and, you guessed it. He thinks there were about ten of them all in the same boat. Lesson learned, I hope.
I just can't see that happening over a Honda, for some reason. If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0
