Double oven recommendations

Dear all

I am pickling my head looking at double ovens and which brand to go for. I want an electric built in.

Similarly to single ovens the price varies wildly dependent on functions. I am looking to spend £600 max.

I am not an amazing cook but do want the flexibility of using top and main oven. One thing I have noted is the litre space - would prefer having a larger main oven.

So any recommendations? My mother and mother in law have the same Bosch single oven which is good - very accurate cooking temp, quick to get to temp and easy to clean. I am thinking of getting the double version.

You wont go wrong getting a Bosch/Neff or Siemens oven though I suspect for £600 you will be getting the entry level model.

On functions, you have to think are you really going to use them all?

Size does matter! It used to be that British ovens were bigger than European ones but I doubt that applies now, are any ovens British made now?

Name? Difficult one, I've always had Creda (1976 to present day) but Hotpoint bought Creda, Indesit bought Hotpoint, Whirlpool bought Indesit...
Not all products sold under a name will necessarily be made by the same people.

You're right. If I thought about spending £600 on a single oven it would get me a pretty high spec one but this amount of money buys you very little for a double

Further to my previous post, my present double oven is a Hotpoint made at the Creda factory. The Hotpoint DD89CX that I see for sale now looks similar. If it is indeed still British made then I'd thoroughly recommend it at the price of £400. I've had mine for 10 years with no problems & the previous version for 10 years at our previous house. I know the name isn't "in" but if that doesn't bother you I'd consider it. It's a large capacity main oven which suggests to me it is British made.

On further investigation the Indesit FIMD23BKS looks similar too, I wonder if that is made in the same Creda factory? But could you live with the Indesit name in your kitchen? But look at the price!

    Good luck.

A basic double oven from Bosch/Neff or Siemens will outperform anything else every day of the week on cooking results alone. I say this from experience of using Electrolux, AEG, Baumatic and Neff at various properties over the years. The Neff oven was 19 years old and really tired. Yet it was the best performing of all of the ovens I have used.
