Impossible to say from the information you have given.
Best advice is if you're asking best to avoid.0 -
It may be as simple as the inertia fuel cut-out needs resetting. It may be considerably more complex. Either take a risk or walk away.0

Could be a case of the engine blew up so they decided to damage the car and claim on the insurance.
If you dont know what your buying then your likely to get your fingers burnt.
It may need a new engine or an ECU or a complete new wiring loom. It maybe a simple switch.
But unless your clued up then dont touch it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
If the engine won't start it's going to be a lot more complicated than fuel or a flat battery, don't you think the salvage mob will have tried their best to get it going in order to sell it at a high price with just a damaged door.
As above, the door is neither here nor there, a 1 hour replacement that worse case you have to paint, engine/management is possibly toast and why it's now salvage.0 -
i am planning to buy a category d salvage. it has only slight damage on the bodywork on the side door but it says that engine does not start. what can cause the engine not to start? do you think it can be a major thing or a quick-fix ?
Worst case scenario is that it was driven into standing water and the engine has locked up. ££££0
