Newly turfed lawn - advice please

Hi, i've just had a new lawn put down by a garden contractor. I'm reasonably happy with how it looks and I know to keep it watered for the next few weeks etc.
Our lawn is roughly triangular in shape, but when the contractor measured up, he obviously just took the two big measurements (7m x 13m) and ordered 91 square metres of turf (he told me the price per square metre and gave a verbal estimate based on 91 square metres.
The turf was delivered while we were at home, but was put down while we were out.
When we returned home, we paid the contractor - who said he had to come back later to collect some tools he'd left. I then checked our home CCTV to see that he'd loaded 20 full rolls of turf back into his van (some directly from the delivery pallet) - i can only assume to use on another job.
On his return I politely asked him what had happened to the extra turf - to which he replied it was just a few off-cuts! It was then I had to point out that our CCTV had seen him clearly load 20 complete rolls of turf back into his van. At this point he was still adamant there was only a few offcuts left over - but he agreed to go and get them from his compost heap where he had just dumped them.
I'm not hopeful of seeing him again!
So, despite the fact he's told me porkies - do I actually own the left over turf or does he?

Which will cause a certain amount of 'waste' You dont want too small a piece of turf, and none at the edges.

How many rolls do you get on a delivery pallet ?
i can only assume to use on another job.
Did he over ordered on your job to save a separate del charge. ?

We could ask how many rolls were actually used, BUT you MUST refrain from walking on the new lawn.

Sorry I wont condem the garden contractor without a little more info.
I'm reasonably happy with how it looks
Is it worth the money you paid. ?

I can see exactly what was used and what put back into the van, it's not guesswork as everything is covered by various CCTV cameras.
I'm happy with the work he did, and to be fair to the guy he has now returned 8 complete rolls of turf - not sure what's happened to the remaining 12.
One thing i didn't mention is that when we returned after he'd put down the lawn, the guy very quickly closed the side door of the van before we could get round to see what was in there (it was full of turf!).
I was just curious as to who actually owned the left over turf in this case?

If he invoiced you for 91 square metres of turf, then you own it all.
