Littlewoods/Santander nightmare!!!

Options
Hi,

I am having a nightmare at the moment! basically I face losing my house because of Littlewoods!! I am currently going through the nightmare of divorce and have 1 missed payment on my credit file that the nightmare known as Santander are declining my application on. I pass on the finance checks everything just 1 missed payment in November last year to Littlewoods is killing the application.

I have 12 years of mortgage payments, never missed a single payment to them in this time and my wages have been the one paying them but that doesn't count apparently only the credit reference file data does!! I mean call me crazy but the main reason they apparently use the credit agency data is so they can judge if you will be a good payer as when you apply as a new applicant they have no data!! surely they have the best data held on their own computer system, it should be telling them that they already have a good payer. I can have a mortgage of 250K on my salary but am only trying to take the ex witch off it and it is only for 110K.

I am on an awful rate on a 10 year 5.8% fixed rate and stuck in it for another 2 years or they want 11K to get out of it which I can't do, if I swap products with them they very very generously wave the fee down to 8K which doesn't make up for the amount of money I will save doing it so basically pointless I even tried extending the fixed rate term but they were not interested! I tried to get some help here when I was stuggling financially with them last year and a change of products would have really helped me but I had to struggle on and give up and shave of other items mainly the food budget I went to eating between 1 and 2 meals a day! They're complaints department have just been a disgrace and nightmare to deal with basically they might as well say f off to you as they have no interest in helping! I will be celebrating in May 2017 when I can get rid of this mortgage and this bank!! They have made a single Dad's life an absoloute nightmare for the last 18 months but they got their money so at least they are happy!

Littlewoods have also been absoloutely useless, for some reason my Santander current account cancelled the direct debit back in October even though the direct debit instruction was still showing on my current account when I switched away from them to First Direct in January, Santander said the instruction was still their but Littlewoods say it wasn't so I am stuck in the middle nothing changed from my side though. Whatever went on I missed a payment by about 5 days! when I realised I paid the whole account off in full nearly £700 instead of just the minimum payment but because I missed it then they are saying get lost its going to stand! anybody have any experience with these lot? is there anyway you can get this removed and sorted? at present I don't know what options I have I either have to sell my house and pay 11K in fees or try and get a mortgage with somebody else but again pay a fee of £11K all for a stupid missed payment with Littlewoods of £60. I cannot afford an £11K I am a single Dad working every hour gods sends just to keep a house and life together for my little girl.

These companies are a disgrace, Littlewoods are such a scam they use over inflated prices an that stupid pay every 4 weeks does not work when most people are paid monthly!! it was a nightmare when they hit you 2 times in 1 month but they don't help or care. There customer service was just so rude when you called them! I am so glad I now have at least have a much better paying job where I just pay cash for everything now and am hitting down the debt I was left by the ex wife!! its saving me a fortune and I don't deal with crooked companies like Littlewoods :-)

Has anybody got any ideas how to sort Littlewoods out, or even better Santander?

Has your contact with Littlewoods all been by telephone so far?

If so then it may be worth writing to them to ask them to remove the missed payment marker as a goodwill gesture, explaining that your bank have informed you that the direct debit instruction was in place at the time and that according to the banl they have no record of littlewoods trying to take a DD payment on that date (if that is the case).

You might also want to write to santander and ask them to confirm to you in writing that the DD instruction was still live at that date and that DD request was made by littlewoods.

What precisely are you trying to achieve? I think from your post that you are trying to do a transfer of equity by taking on the Mortgage in your sole name and releasing your ex from the Mortgage?
Is your ex threatening to force a sale?
If not then can't you just ask Santander how old the default has to be before it doesn't have an impact on your application and just wait that time? Time is a healer when it comes to credit reference data.
For example I don't know what Santanders lending criteria is but the brokers on the other forum (mortgages and endowments) say each lender has criteria re defaults eg max 1-2 defaults that are 3 yrs old or more so ask Santander what their criteria is and if you can't get the default removed from your credit reference then can you wait and it will all be ok again with Santander in 2 yrs maybe?
You could ask on the mortage and endowments board.
In 2017 you will face the same probem if you are trying to remortage away from Santander as you will have a default that is within the last 3 yrs so you'll need a broker to find you a lender that will accept customers with a default in the last 3 yrs. it's explained a lot better by brokers on the mortgage board sorry.
You could post on the mortgage and endowments board for more help.
  • Persistance was the key :-) I spoke to manager after manager until I got to senior management of the company. Once there they reviewed my case and... it made no sense!

Why would I pay my direct debit on the 25th October then cancel the direct debit on the 28th!! then I paid them before I got a reminder letter as I noticed it hadn't gone out even though it was still showing on my account, then 3 days later paid the whole account off so never questioned the direct debit issue until now!!

It took a manager to realise that something didn't look right here, then 2 hours later I got a phone call saying "you are right this doesn't look correct", I got an apologie and most of all my credit file corrected so I am a happy camper!!

No idea why it happened, I lost £12 as they didn't offer to give me that back but quite frankly I couldn't care less about £12 compared to getting my credit file sorted out.
