Cheque Debit Time

Hi
If I write a cheque, once the other party banks it, how many days is it for the balance to come out my account? I need to transfer money from other accounts to cover it but obvioulsy dont want it to bounce in the meantime!
Thanks
Ben

get cash in asap, max two days after presented.. I believe that writing cheques, without ££ to cover it, may be illegal..

Are the transfers not (almost) instant nowadays?

I took it to mean that the OP wants to know how late they can leave the transfer and still have the money in the account by the time the cheque debit hits. Personally I'd just do the transfer on or before the day the cheque is written to be sure.

Thanks but problem solved by increasing my overdraft which was done straight away. It's for a property auction deposit, so don't want to transfer funds prior as odds are probably against me winning.
    Thanks
