Strange debt collection letters

I hope that this is the relevant section!
This morning I received 2 separate letters addressed to 2 different names. Opened them up and they were both from the same debt collection service "Burlington Group" claiming a mobile contract debt. Obviously these people do not live at this address and as far as I am aware have never lived at the address.
So I call them up and explain the situation, they ask me for one of the reference numbers, but not the other. The guy I spoke to said he "would sort that out". They never offered me any sort of explanation and he seemed quite perplexed about my call.
Has anybody else ever experienced anything like this? Obviously I am slightly concerned that somebody might have used my address for credit.

Nothing to worry about. Just return any further letters you get for them.0

Your credit file (not score) is generally unique to you (do get some mix-ups with family members with the same name) - someone else applying for credit or trying to get a phone registered at your address doesn't affect you
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Hmmm, bit odd this.
I got a letter from them today as well, but it was addressed to me. It says I owe £400 to A1 Comms Limited, which seems to be linked to buymobilephones, from whom I bought a phone in 2012.
There's nothing on my credit file about this debt.
So are these safe to ignore?0 -
Upon further investigation, mine seems to relate to early cancellation of a mobile contract for me, though I paid the remainder of the contract off.
Does anyone know if this would be enforceable?0 -
Mine was with a1 communication too. Very strange coincidence or not0

We got a letter today from Burlington trying to collect a debt from A1comms that A1Comms cancelled four months ago and apologised to us about...clearly Burlington has bought a very badly annotated debt file!0

I have had a similar letter asking for £320. I phoned Burlington and told them I had never heard of A1 Communications, nor buymobiles, nor have I ever bought a phone online, and asked for substantiating details. They have forwarded a letter from A1 Comms telling me that they delivered a phone to me at a Manchester postcode and they have proof. Except I have never lived in Manchester. At what point does 'a very badly annotated debt file' become culpable negligence?0
