You may need a 'tree expert' rather than a gardener. They're usually qualified in arboriculture and will have the correct equipment, protective gear etc. They will also know the correct times of year to trim bushes and fell trees. Usually winter, when the migrant birds have gone and mating/nesting hasn't yet started.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

I hope he's ok! My first thought was that he'd had a heart attack or something :eek:0

This ( without the shrub issue) happened to us. He turned up a couple of weeks later..turned out a tree had fallen on him..broken arm..not one of ours but one he was cutting later in the day.
The "Dont trim your shrubs until next winter" crowd...theres not a thing nesting in any shrubs or bushes in our neighbourhood - were currently running at an average of two cats per house in this street...anything that chirps - hops or so much as rustles a leaf is fair game..its a bit of a wildlife wasteland
also - not all shrubs / bushes are suitable for birds nesting and it is the right time to cut back several sorts...and as most deciduous ones are still bare you would see birds nests...so not very good advice here.. a bit preciousFight Back - Be Happy0 -
Not 'precious' at all. Speaking from experience. The bushes in our garden are full of birdy activity. Even the Leylandii which is on next door's side of the fence and comes over our side.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Some tradespeople are just really slow at billing...0

I agree with Alchemilla. The tree surgeon I use every few years always does a fantastic job but isn't red hot on sending out his invoices. One year he did some work for me in November and in spite of chasing him up several times, I didn't receive his invoice until the following April. Possibly because it was the next tax year. It then took him a further 6 weeks to cash my cheque!0
