Natwest Charge

I have a Natwest Step acc which I seldom use. I also have an account for tel with provider 18185 and I pay this with my Solo card every month. Recently I went into my 18185 acc and it said we have been unable to collect this months payment from your Natwest acc please give another method of payment.
It seems they may have applied for the money earlier than usual. Usually they apply on the 3rd and it's paid on the 4th of the month. There was enough money in the account on the 3rd to pay this bill but on the 2nd it would have been 5p short.
Nothing is showing on my online Natwest acc about any problem with payment to 18185.
....................
It says on the Natwest site
Unaranged transaction unpaid.
Payable when a cheque, Standing Order or Direct Debit is not paid due to there being insufficient funds available in your account.
"Unpaid fees are applied at the time the transaction is not paid or taken from your account".
£38 per item.
................
I don't pay by any of the three methods above I pay via my Natwest Solo card. Will I have to pay a penalty and if so when will it be taken off.
I always keep a small balance in this acc so there wouldn't be enough to pay a £38 penalty if it was taken off later in the month.
Should I put more money in this acc incase they try to take a penalty fee ?
If I don't will they also add on another fee cos there is insufficient money in the acc to pay the £38 charge and I am now overdrawn if they take £38.
I have no overdraft with this type of acc.
..............................
If you go overdrawn without prior arrangement: this is in addition to interest payable as detailed.
£28 fee.
.................................................
Thanks.

I went to the Natwest website to check their charges, that's what I copied and pasted on to my previous post. Natwest haven't contacted me at all about any charges perhaps I'm concerning myself about imagined charges. Infact my online statement has me in credit and there is nothing regarding this month's payment to 18185.
I am just enquiring incase they slap any charges on me.
I've had this acc for three years and have always been in credit.
It's only when I go to the 18185 website and into my tel account that is says that they have been unable to collect my payment for this month from Natwest.Every statement from 18185 is dated the 3rd of the month and every payment from Natwest has been on the 4th of the month.
I don't know if 18185 tried to take the payment early from my Solo card..
I have three different bank accounts with three different banks, always like to cover my bases incase there are any problems with one of my accounts.
