Tesco Credit Card Cardholder Protection Plan

On my husbands credit card statement he is charged around £40 each month for Cardholder Protection PLan. We no longer use this card but are paying it off. The CPP is a substantial amount each month and I wondered if there is anyway my husband can cancel it as we have never used it.
