Father and daughter looking for a cheap sunny holiday

Hello folks
I am looking for suggestions for somewhere to take my eldest daughter (age 13) on holiday, during the first week of school holidays (18th-26th July). We are looking for somewhere warm and cheap, preferably within reach of a beach, our budget is about £400 for travel and accommodation and we would prefer to have 2 bedrooms.
We have been considering going to France, probably ferry/eurotunnel and driving (not more than 4 hours) or a cheap package holiday, as long as it is family friendly, but haven't managed to find anything suitable within budget.
Any guidance or suggestions would be most welcome.

£400 is an optimistic budget.
I immediately thought of Canvas or Eurocamp. You should be able to get a tent with separate bedrooms for under £500. Mobile home will probably be edging over £700. I'd prefer the latter tbh and would recommend saving hard to get it!
Remember you'll have food, petrol and ferry / tunnel to sort out on top of that.
You could both certainly have a great time at numerous options near beaches within four hours of Calais.
Cheapest all inclusive holidays will be around £1,200 for two sharing a twin room.0 -
Hi,
Not to bring a cloud over your sunny holiday but that is peak season just the start of the school holidays where everyone will be trying to get out of here 😊 that maybe why you can't find a holiday in budget.
But trying to amuse a teenager have you looked at Tenerife, 4.5ish hour flight, sunshine and plenty to do. I'm not sure whether it'll be in budget but just a suggestion! Good Luck!0 -
Hi,
We found some apartments on Owners Direct near Alicante for less than £400 for the week. Obviously flights on top .0 -
Heya! I'm not sure if those dates might be expensive, but I have always found the Algarve to be incredibly good value - again, not sure about your dates, but we've gone away for flights £80 p/p and (amazingly) basic but clean self catering apartments for approx £60 for the week. Good luck! xbig bad debts: Gone!

You'll be hard pressed to find somewhere within budget at that time of year in traditional spots. I had a quick search and Barcelona came up with a 3 bed apartment for £110, then flights are £130 each. Barcelona has a beach, and plenty to do for a 13yo as well as a dad!
Try Skycanner for cheap flights, then search for accommodation.0 -
Is there any chance that one of your daughter's friends could come with you and pay their own way (or at least for the flight if you are doing self-catering). You could all spend time together and eat together but they could do a bit of exploring on their own during the day maybe and leave you to either go with them or to have a relax.
if you could get somewhere near Salou they or you and your daughter could go to Portaventura. I have noticed over the years that flights to Reus always seem cheaper than other parts of Spain during the summer holidays. hope you find something0 -

You're not misreading this but I'm pretty sure it must be a mistake.
Edit that to definitely.

Hence the classic saying "If it is too good to be true, it probably is"...
I had almost booked it, but there was a delay in getting my leave approved. Given the very limited protection offered by the 'Payment Protection', and the fact that they even have a FAQ entitled "I've arrived at the property and some other guests are already there" I think is probably too big a risk to take, as we could end up in Barcelona for 7 days with nowhere to stay :eek:0
