gambling and CR help please

Just seen that when I checked my CR with Noddle that the online bookmakers are searched for under
'Money laundering'.
So it does go on your credit file. And it states that 3rd parties may be able to see these searches.

SO if I went for a mortgage and they seen a dozen searches by bookmakers is this going to effect my chances?

Will they think I have a gambling problem, when in reality I was getting the free bet offers??

Also its says they stay on report for 24 months.
How long would any body recommend before I actually applied.
I have read banks check last 6 months of bank statements?

Does any body think this will create another hurdle into getting a mortgage?

I take full responsibility for my actions. I have had PDLs in past to. But lf on line gambling and PDLs can seriously affect your CR and future(well when you grow up and realise that you need a house), should they not come with a MASSIVE WARNING SIGN just like cigarettes??
TIA

Nobody is going to give you definitive answer I'm afraid. Lenders have their formula for working out the risk factor. This formula contains several variables one of which MIGHT be entries of bookmakers/PDL in your credit report.

Ultimately it boils down to affordability and risk factor. If you earn £3000 and you'r gambling a £100 a month then that's hardly going to make a dent in your finances. However, if you earn £5000 a month and gave several defaults and CCJs then you would be too risky for most lenders etc...

Regarding the warning signs. Don't expect the government to act any time soon. Gambling and PDLs doesn't cost the NHS anything! :rotfl:

I am more worried about the fact the searches are recored on CR and could put lenders off. I am fully aware of the lending criteria's and affordability checks.
I merely trying yo get to the bottom of what effect this could have if any and raising the point that risky business should be highlighted if it is a risk, then more young people, during their younger year's no the risk and potentially don't create obstacles when coming to buy a house.
I am trying to better my life my investing and it seems as though hurdles are popping up everywhere. Latest one being, we can get a good 10% deposit for a house, now turns out we need an extra 2-3k for legal fees etc. There is nothing easy unless your rich, and your right the government is useless!!
  • I have opened too many casino accounts to even count and although I can see all of their searches on my Experian account, they all come under "searches which do not affect your credit score" so I'm not expecting this to have a negative impact. Perhaps I'm being optimistic but I just assumed they were for identity verification more than anything as they aren't credit accounts.
Apologies for any typos, my phone can't handle the forums.
