I see that from this Thursday 9th August Lidi will have Clematis at £4.99 each.
Anyone know if they are outdoor/indoor and their name

I didn't know there were indoor clematis...!
Do you mean evergreen or deciduous?
If it's on sale now, it must be flowering now. I know clems have 'classes' according to when they flower, maybe you could look those up and that would help you identify.0 -
I bought a clematis from Lidl last time they were on offer, but nice as it is it I found that when it flowered it is not the variety it said it was

Growing well though and I will live with itNumerus non sum0 -
Unfortunately the type or class of clematis are not given and it would appear from the pictures showen that there are if flower.
I would just like to know if I were to buy some from Lidi could I plant them outside in the ground strate away.
I am not a gardener however I would like to plant some clematis and hope that they would grow up the trellis that I have put around my oil tank.0 -

Yes, plant them straight away, then they will have chance to make nice roots in the warm summer soil before winter arrives
Do not break up the rootball, just plant them as they come out of the pot because clematis do not like root disturbance, which is why they are always sold in pots
Make a hole much deeper [about 3inches or so, it is not critical] than the pot they are in and plant them deeper than the level of the top of soil in the pot. This is because clematis can get clematis wilt, and die. By planting deeper the roots will continue to throw up new shoots should this happen
PS plant if possible with roots in shade & tops in sun, this mimics the natural habitat of clematis as they grow in hedgerows, wood edges. Some bricks or stones over the root area would do nicelyNumerus non sum0 -
Thanks Farway..... I will be off to Lidl first thing on Thursday morning.0
