hi,wait 2 days for vic notice to be removed from https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ here
go to your post office and fill in a v5c and appropiate v10? to tax car,pay the £25 v5c fee ,now write to dvla asking for the £25 fee back as a refund as it was covered in the £41 vic fee, send it registered post wait a good 6 weeks for the cheque, keep checking road tax still valid on a weekly basis in case something goes wrong at their end (trust me it can has and probably will again)0 -
I completed the vic, then taxed the car at a post office using the green slip I got from the vendor, it was a couple of years ago mind.0

you should get a "reciept" from the VIC check, this allows you to tax it at a post office the same day, providing its insured and mot'd (as applicable)
the price you paid for the VIC includes a replacement V5 so dont pay a penny at the post office.Sealed pot challenger # 10

Just make sure your insurance know and understand 100% they are insuring a Cat C car.
If not, most will cancel your policy the second they find out as they do not like the increased risk of injury to occupants in a weakened shell car.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -

only a couple of insurers say they wont insure a "written off" car if they dont ask at policy inception they dont care, they will just pay out less than the market value of the car
cat c doesnt always mean a weakened body shell, on an older car could be as little as a damaged wing/bumper
if the body shell was badly damaged it would of been a cat bSealed pot challenger # 10
