Well that fell a little flat! Fortunately I checked at the hole in the wall on the way to work - it has not cleared into the account at all.
It is showing in the account balance, but cannot be drawn against!
Thank goodness everything I'd done first thing is covered by the overdraft (phew) - but no mortgage payment for me today. I'll have to check tomorrow morning and see then.0 -
Good news! My money is my money finally. Cheques are such an oldfashioned way to do business.
I shall make a mortgage overpayment today, because I'm impatient, and then pay the holiday out of OH's money when I get back. I have until the 18th April, so that can come out of his pay at the end of the month.
And I'm off - youngest is living in Cambridge, so I am taking her and her boyfriend out for dinner, her sister and her boyfriend are coming, and my sister and her two boys.
My sister didn't know we were related until Christmas, it's a long story, but my girls (20 and 21) have never met or known about her boys (16 and 19) - so they are all meeting for the first time tonight. I hope they enjoy each others company!
Then I am staying in town and popping down to Stansted in the morning to fly across.
I watched a true movie last night - not even that scarey, we aren't talking nightmare on elm street, and I still had to put the washing basket in front of the door of the bedroom! I'll be pleased to get back to OH.
In other news eldest DD is moving back from Uni accomodation this Sunday (it's cheaper, I'm going to save up to travel) and youngest told me yesterday she was thinking of doing the same! (It's cheaper). Apparently for 9k you get two days tuition a week next year.
Still, as it was me paying the rent them coming home should be cheaper right? I bet it's not.
How late is it acceptable to call people I wonder? My f-i-l called me at 9.15 last night for 45 minutes, now I was awake, trying to watch something to unscare myself - but generally I'm not.
Right - I have a lot to do before lunchtime when I knock off for a week and a half.
I wish you all surprise money in the post in my absence.0 -
Well that makes no sense at all!
I've altered my signature to better reflect what they said on 11th march.
11th March 2015. Mortgage remaining:
Account 1: 52,664.99 (3.59%)
Account 2: 17,321.58 (4.19%)
TOTAL: 69,986.57
I paid off £305. 12 and today they say I owe:
Account 1: 52,529.11
Account 2: 17,202.50
TOTAL: 69,731.61
Which is £255.06 less but I paid £305.12!
How on earth does that work?
Well, now I know - I telephoned them back - they calculate interest daily, but apply it monthly, and it was applied on the 11th AFTER I made my payment. It was also part credited to the wrong account, so they are moving it across from Account 1 to Account 2 (higher interest rate).
Do you know, I consider myself fairly intelligent, but this is taking some getting my head around.0 -
Well ten days at the house in France didn't make me feel any better off! We are now awaiting the quotation for the house roof, and also the bakehouse.
the good news is that neither needs timber - so that's better than the barn!
We also spent a while tootling around camper vans, and they are much much cheaper out there, so we may look into how to buy one in France.
On the money front I've paid off the June holiday in full now, and we have paid for four new tyres - but no overpayments until I get paid half way through the month, OH's money was all earmarked.0 -
Well received notification in the post in my absence:
As of 26th March 2015 the total was:
£69,654.22
Going down!0 -
Well we still haven't received the devis for the roof (s), we are getting a quote for the bread oven too. I did email yesterday though, so hopefully he'll get onto that.
And we went to the motorhome show this weekend, and of course found something we love!
So all I have to do now is work out how to pay off the mortgages, find the necessary 70k or so and work out how to fund a retirement.
Looks fairly intimidating when it's all written out like that....
Still, on the good news I have Broad Beans and peas in now, and have bought the canes for the runner beans, so a little bit more turned over and they can go in ready.
The chicken is still laying, no idea why she took such a sabbatical last year, but her stable mate still seems to be taking one....
And it's the year end at work, elections, and every employer has a meeting over two weeks, just done them all - I'm drowning under paperwork, so much so that I haven't even taken time to check how much we still owe.
My wages clear this week, but I think I won't pay anything until OH gets paid this month.
Littley is off to Canada for about eight weeks this Summer, so I want to be able to give her some spendies.
Both of my daughters came home last week within days of each other - I can see my bills going back up quickly!
Still, next FIT payment is 7th May. That's not too far away, and I always treat that as 'extra' money.0 -
Morning, sounds like you have some exciting plans in the offing.
Being paid by cheque must drive you mad - it's great to be able to see the balance reducing :T
Good luck with your plans.
Best wishes Tilly2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:
2011 £309k 10 years - MF March 2021.
Achieved Goal: 28/08/15 :j0 -
Thank you Tilly - it's the joy of local government I'm afraid. The upside is that it's regular, reliable, and you are unlikely to lose your job.
Beautiful morning this morning, I've just balanced my first year end - and it doesn't.
So not a great start to the day - the cheques went in last Friday, so should clear tomorrow I think. I keep thinking 'perhaps just a little bit'.
I wonder if 'when you can' is best or 'every day' or something? For me every day wouldn't work, we spend too much money!
Another reason I can't do much with this paycheck is that it is the Game and Country Fair this weekend - OH wants new shirts and wellies and I would like a new pair of the little Hunters. Mine have perished outside on the wellie rack and split on the ankles. Typical.
Not that it's wellie weather now, so I guess it's not critical if I don't get them, but that's the shopping list for the Show.
Course days out like that always turn our more expensive - last weekend was £2.00 for a coffee and then we stopped for dinner on the way home.0 -
Well another £100.40 paid off this morning.
The total before that was accounted for was:
*drum roll please*
£69,128.55
So in the month and a half it's gone down over £850. It's starting to look more achievable.
We have decided this morning our target will be six years. OH is 54 in May, so we'd like him to work the Summer of his 60th (he works in agriculture, and when he stops in October that year have the motorhome and go.
So, a target - how lovely!0 -
Great job :]
