Looking to add an EM fund - a little confused

To me this is an advantage of the VLS - since you can't see how the underlying funds are performing in your portfolio, you just keep buying it and "sticking to the plan". You don't look at your portfolio and go off on a performance-chasing rampage and sell stuff just because it has been down for a few weeks or months. From this perspective it defends against irrational meddling and actions which go against your own best-interests. It helps tame the lizard brain.
I totally agree with you as red figures in the portfolio used to make me feel anxious. The global tracker is best for average investor.
The EM recent out performance is also due to currency fluctuation for example 1 GBP= 107 INR 3months ago and now 1GBP is 93.00 INR.This is positive if you want to move money out from India but not positive for people who are investing now as any fluctuation in favour of GBP will dilute EM performance in GBP currency.0 -
Genesis Emerging Markets (GSS)
This is what I hold for extra EM exposure, my core holding Bankers is a bit EM light.
It's really well balanced and diversified across the emerging markets.
It will not likely come top of any short term performance charts as funds top heavy in one country that is flavour of the year will be e.g funds overweight India recently.
But long term i'm happy to drip into GSS over the next 20+ years and think it should do well for me.0
